A Day Dream

It was one hot day in the midst of summer. A hot day in Chennai means, it’s really hot that you don’t need any geysers to get hot water in tap. So getting out in this sun is probably a bad choice. I am a lazy geek and this day came as a holiday to add up to my laziness. After having a heavy meal more than enough to give a 5hrs deep sleep, I went to my bed and closed my eyes. One good thing in me is that, I get into sleep in the nick of time just by closing my eyes. I am blessed by that way. Also, I used to get atleast a dream in almost every complete sleep. Every dream is worth living in. You probably won’t even think of such scenarios in real life.

After I closed my eyes, I stretched out my arms and legs to have a relaxed feel… In few moments, I got into sleep. A new place surrounded me with blooming flowers and leaves. The climate is now cold and it’s the perfect day to enjoy. I am standing in a garden with random new friends. My age has come down by 4 years but still it’s my teenage, just that I am back in my school days. Yeah I’m back to my school days, back with my bicycle. The things that happened in that garden went like a time-lapse video and it’s hard for me to visualize. The only thing I remember is that, at the end, we bid good bye at each other and head at different ways. I took my bicycle and headed towards a highway. It is not a crowded highway yet there are random vehicles running in both the lanes. I’m cycling not too fast, not too slow on one side of the highway, enjoying the scenic beauty on both sides of the highway. I really don’t know where I’m going but still I’m pedaling my bicycle.
I reach a giant over-bridge probably as high as Eiffel tower. As it’s a dream, anything can happen…So don’t use your logical skills here. I pedal my bicycle hard and hard to get over that bridge. I managed to get to the top of that bridge without much trouble. But it’s not over. The bridge which went up to Eiffel tower’s height now goes down as deep as the bottom of Pacific Ocean. It is like, the bridge starts from space and goes down to the core of earth. I lose my control over the bicycle as quick as a wink, and it starts running down with the heavy pull of gravity. Brakes don’t work here. Even if it works, it will only lock up the wheels, not the motion of the bicycle. Instead of rolling wheels, it will be rolling bicycle in that case. The speed accelerates at 9.81m/s and I can feel the weight of wind blowing on me. It’s is heavier than me. I am screaming as if I am having a dangerous roller coaster ride, but this is a real life ride. It’s a death or life ride. I close my eyes in panic. It does not seem to stop under any situation.

Between the screams, I slightly open my eyes like an orifice to have a view of my front. Another bizarre is awaiting me. In front of me, there is a 16 wheel truck moving down and I’m about to hit it. “What the hell? The truck is moving down slowly, being much heavier than my bicycle!” I am screaming like, “Oh. Noooo!!! It’s coming near!! I am about to hit it”. I could not control my bicycle. It came very close. Suddenly by reflex action, my hands steered the bicycle to my right to go in the narrow gap between the truck and divider. I hope you could feel it. I crossed the truck. “Wow. I’m still alive. Thanks god”. But still I am on my path down the bridge accelerating and accelerating further. I started to enjoy the ride rather to panic and scream. The tough part of the ride comes now. The path now divides into four different paths and each again heading down steep. I couldn’t decide which path to choose, and I let the choice to my bicycle. The bicycle chose the left most path and starts running towards it. I could see twists and turns in that path to increase my heartbeat further. I went against my bicycle’s decision and steered slightly to my right lightning fast to save my life. Now, I’m in the second branch of the highway. By, god’s grace, it is a straight clear road for me to move fast enough without getting hit anywhere. I realized that ‘2’ is my lucky number. The speed almost now accelerated to an airplane’s take off speed. Yeah! I am moving too fast.
Luckily, I still have my balance over the cycle.
I could see the end of the bridge few yards away.
But wait!
How will I decelerate my bicycle now? I’m moving too fast. There must be a way…”GOD …help me out” I prayed in panic. I am nearing the edge of the bridge and there’s a wide river flowing over there. I can feel the depth of the river from my view. It seems to be a perennial river. I prayed to every god I know. “Save me...Save me…Save me” I screamed loud!!! Something hit me as quick as a flash and then I’m thrown out of my bicycle the very next moment into the air. I’m now flying in the air again screaming with all my voice. Air dropped me into that river with a big splash. I managed to get out of that river somehow. I felt something heavy in my pocket. My hands reached my pocket to take it out. It was my mobile phone. The screen is completely broken and battery is penetrating the back case. I am fully drenched in water. I wiped the broken screen with my hand. I saw something like Harry Potter’s wand half buried in the sand below my foot. I took it out and did actions like a wizard. Surprisingly, the phone is now alright!! I switched it on and it rings the next moment. Meanwhile a man in dhoti came approaching me. He took a coconut shell and collected some water from the river and gave it to me as I was breathing hard. I drank the water with a smile in my face. I read the message in my phone after exchanging a smile with him. It read “Welcome to Karnataka, enjoy our services here”.
I woke up from my day dream.

It’s dusk in Chennai. The sun slowly hid himself from my view through window. I smiled recollecting the dream
